Victoria and or Comox Highland Games??

Anyone from Xmarks heading out to either of these games on May long weekend? I'm coming back home for a few days.

The X Marks meeting place at the Victoria Highland Games is the Freedom Kilts Tent. At least ten of the Rabble will be in attendance.

Look for the guy manning the tent with the X Marks Cap badge on his Balmoral. (that would be me)

I'll be at the Victoria Highland Games on the Saturday and Sunday, Andrew. I'll be with the Greater Victoria Police Pipe Band, near the classic police car. I look forward to meeting you!

I'm very excited, I havnt been home in quite a long time. I'm going to make May long weekend a yearly pilgrimage. Steve I think you'll remember me when you see me. I bought a Stewart/Murray of Atholl cap badge from you once at your shop.
Btw, is the Victoria Police band competing this year??

    Andrew,

We are putting in a Grade 5 competition band for the first time since I've been a member. I am also competing solo again, up against all those youngsters with the fast fingers from Vancouver.
After practise last night, my advice is to stay on the far side of the field when the grade 5's start....hopefully we will improve by then.

I look forward to meeting you!!

I look forward to meeting you as well. One of the two bands I play in just started competing in grade 5 last year as well. I'll be competing in the solo's out there as well. What catagory are you cometing in? I'm sure your band will do just fine, it's not just about winning/placing. My playing has come s long way since I started competing last year. Having Jamie Troy jr as a tutor has done a hell of a lot of good for me as a piper ( hopefully he'd agree with me!)
    Looking forward to the games.

    I'm in Grade 4...6/8 and S/R

You are 100% correct about what we do it for though. I don't have a hope in heck of placing. It's all about the nerves and overcoming the terror for me. Plus, all the practise I have to get in is great as well.

See you in just over two weeks.

I'm going in the adult 2/4 march and the gr4 6/8. I don't really have my strathpey's and reels's up to competition level yet. I would have if had known ahead of time that I was going to Victoria this year. They don't have a strathspey and reel category in grade 4 out here in Ontario, only 4 parted 2/4 march and novice piobaireachd ( ground and first two variations).

    No I'm not in Comox...

I am the haggrarian for the Victoria games so I have "official" duties of getting people to address the haggis/offer it up for people to try and organize the haggis toss. They are on both days. It's kinda fun!!
