The Clan Gunn Heritage Centre and Museum is not far from where I live. I must visit sometime. Although not a Gunn myself, they together with the Sinclairs are the two major clans in Caithness.

Re: Clan Gunn
My last name is Gunn, how can I join the official clan, or is there an official clann Gunn?

Re: Clan Gunn
Hullo Mr. Gunn! I can't answer your question, but am sure that someone will very shortly. You already belong to the clan, perhaps just not the clan association. Meanwhile, welcome to the Great Rabble!

You are already in it! No need to do anything. If you are talking about the artificial Clan associations, I am sure a few minutes on Google will pay dividends.

I am curious as to why you refer to Clan Societies as "artificial". They serve an important function in our dispersed Clan populations. The Clan Gunn Society (UK), while not actually headed up by the Commander, Gunn of Banniskirk, does consider him to be the rallying point for the Society. Iain is active in Society affairs as well. The immediately past-president of the Clan Gunn Society of North America, Rich Gunn, is now the International Representative for Banniskirk, who has decided he can no longer be the globe trotter he once was.
