Matt has been a member since the 25th of January 2005.

He is the director of the Scottish Tartans Museum, of Franklin, NC. He is a kiltmaker and tartan scholar. He is a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland and a member of the board of Governors of the Scottish Tartans Authority.

Matt posts frequently on X Marks. He writes on various topics, offering advice to fellow X Markers and to readers of his own blog at Albanach.org., frequently illustrating his work with pictures from his own wardrobe Additionally, he travels extensively to Highland Games and various other meetings, speaking to groups and individuals on kilt related topics, promoting the wearing of the kilt and the museum.

Matt's advice manages to straddle the line between promoting his employer ( the museum) and offering reliable general information. He seems to make a point of avoiding promoting his own merchandise, though his many satisfied customers are less inclined to keep silent.

We recognize Matt as a walking, talking ambassador for the kilt and a helpful, knowledgeable friend to all who wear it.

Matt was inducted to the Honour Roll on the 3rd of June 2011
