    To all --

The Staff wishes first of all to apologise for the tardiness of this response. In the early days of this discussion we wished to remain on the sidelines and simply observe progress without interfering. The great respect members were showing toward each other and the forum was applauded by all of us. And then you challenged us by reaching consensus in the Traditional Highland Dress sub-forum and asking that a change be made to the manner in which the sub-forum was described.

That began our own discussion which we had to wedge in to an already heavy work-load. What we recognise – to use the description provided by one of us – is that we are often trying to shepherd a flock of cats.

What we know is that there must be a common base for all three sub-forums; it has taken us an inordinately long time to find a base that we could propose to you, other that the one already in place.

A new thread entitled Sub-Forum Descriptors is opened and we invite you to discuss the descriptions we propose for the three sub-forums. The thread is opened in the Traditional sub-forum for convenience only, and all members are invited to have their say. We hope you will reach consensus on this, too, because that will make our job so very much easier.

    Best wishes,
    ThistleDown (Rex)
    for the Staff
