Accordion Jigs/tribute to my dad
Here is a little video I cobbled together for Facebook specifically for Father's Day, I thought afterwards that some X-Markers may enjoy the track. Basically it's an old recording of my late father playing four jigs on accordion with some recent overdubs by me (guitars, bass guitar, mandolin, bouzouki and bodhrán). Done without a click track at times it was a devil to keep in time! Hope you like it.

Ummmmmm....... OK, I'm surprised no-one has commented at all, even if to say they hated it, not wishing to fish for compliments or anything, but I would have thought it would attract at least a flicker of interest, but then again I guess this is a forum about kilts, not music, so fair enough!

Well I'll certainly comment. Good job. And you're lucky you have this. My father played fiddle all his life, mostly Scottish and Maritime tunes, and we don't have any recordings of him at all.

Thanks ExDragoon, I'm sorry that there are no recordings of your dad, I regret that there are no recordings of my grandad (Dad's dad), who came from just outside Motherwell, Lanarkshire and was a very fine singer by all accounts, in fact he beat THIS guy singing in a talent contest once http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DW1Yrctizpg a few years before this clip, mind!) unfortunately he died before I was born, so I could never get to ask him about it.

MY apologies. I was listening to this as we were cooking supper, and we both thought it good, we enjoyed. Supper got done, we started eating, I got timed out of the forum, and when I next logged in, didn't recall to say so.
Thanks for posting, and I'm really glad for you that you have it.

Well, I just caught this and am very pleased to hear your father play. My father also played the accordian and I have no recording of it. So, it was nice to be reminded of his choice of instruments.
My older brother inherited the accordian when my father passed away in 1982. Out of recent curiousity, I asked my brother, who could play almost any instrument including the piano, if he ever attempted to master it. He sheepishly admitted that he had to sell it a few years ago without playing it much. Oh, well.

Thank you, I now have my dad's accordion in my music room, but I doubt I'll ever learn to play it, I'm all about strings and frets!
