    Pipers - I need a tune

    Hello, Pipers!

I'm a fiddler. Looking for a pipe tune (strathspey, reel, or march) to go with Lexie McAskill in a listening set. Here's a link ...http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/1093

Looking forward to your suggestions, and thanks for your ideas.

    Cheers!

Have you ever heard of a reel Colin Camerons kilt It was compossed by J.Scott Skinner I've heard it played on pipes but never on a fiddle oddly enough

How complicated do you want? Here are some pretty basic ones...

    March: The Conundrum
Strathspey: Stumpie, Inverary Castle, Dalnahasaig, The Fiddler's Joy
Reel: The Ale is Dear (N. Gillies arr.), Sleepy Maggie, Brenda Stubbert's Reel, Charlie's Welcome, The Reel of Tulloch, The Smith of Chilliechassie

    Hope that helps.

Thanks, Castle. I found Alasdair Gillies' webpage, where apparently I can purchase the sheet music and sound files. What a deal!! I think I'll head that direction.

I ought to learn Castle Dangerous. That's a nice tune, too. And I can play them all an octave down! What a treat!!

MacAngus - I know of several settings for Ewie, but, some of them are entirely unsuitable for pipes. I'll look for a pipe setting and give that a whirl. Lovely tune, really.

One "bad" thing about playing pipe tunes on a fiddle - I'm going through A and E strings like mad. I really need to get back to playing fiddle tunes on my fiddle so I can exercise the low strings. There's just not enough time in the day to play so many tunes, you know?

    Cheers, all.
