Today, September 28, is the first annual British Home Child day in Ontario. From the 1880’s to the 1930’s Britain sent over 100,000 children to Canada for adoption or to work as indentured servants primarily on farms. Today, along with my family we are choosing to celebrate all those children who came to Canada and in particular those from Quarrier's Village in Scotland who through their hard work have made Canada a greater country. If you have a BHC in your background I hope you will also take the time to honour them.
