Not me, and I'm a bit leery of it myself. Attempt to imitate the look of a wire-wrapped sword hilt?

Hmmm... sounds plausable. I know I've never seen one done up like that.

So the main point (rimshot) of contention seems to be the pommel shape, possibly followed by the pommel construction and hilt embelishment, with questions as to the blade.

I'm guessing it's either real, and therefor may be quite valuable because it's unusual, or it's a clever, but not tooooo clever, fake. Everything can be broken down into two vague possibilities.

Is there a chance that we might get to see more pictures of this piece?

Some interesting replies from those that know more the me. At £1850 asking price I doubt that it will go soon so next time I'm in there I'll try and measure it and get some better pics.

    Re: Highland Revival Dirk?

I would need some more good pics before I would venture to say anything more than what I will. Anything that is atypical often throws up red flags. The patina on the blade does not look correct for the age it is said to be, I would expect a darker more consistent patina. What concerns me most is the manner in which it appears to be assembled, the groved handle looks more like threading on a stem and the pommel looks to be at least two pieces. The metal hilt is a trait of earlier dirks, however without any provenance I would be unwilling to to part with any of my money.
All this is being said with just looking at one picture so please keep that in mind.
