Looks great ,I too just found a tweed waist coat at a thrift store.

Is there anything we should do to make them more (Scottish ) ?

Or should it be OK to just wear .

perhaps I wasn't clear: it was originally a jacket, which i altered and made into a vest/waistcoat ( and have since decided "the next one" will be somewhat different). The only consideration ( in the alteration) to be more 'kilt friendly', was to ensure the length "worked" for the natural waist/hieight of kilt waist.

That's a very neat idea. Looks like it came out pretty decent too. May have to give this a try, myself. Thanks for posting it!

Can we see a picture of it being worn?

Just out of curiosity: Did you go down a size from your normal suit jacket size to make it more "snug" like a vest and still allow you to wear a jacket over it? In other words, if you normally wear a 44R, did you convert a 43R to a vest?

It might depend on the style and construction of what you have, but for the most part, any tweed waistcoat will probably be fine for wearing with a kilt. To make it more "Scottish", you could swap the buttons out for antler buttons, and add pointed flaps to the pockets. But that's not really necessary. The main thing I would do first is see whether the bottom front panel needs to be adjusted in height so it works with a sporran. I've found that most Saxon-style waistcoats come down too far in the front for sporran-wearing.

Are there guides posted anywhere on how to do this? And I second the request for a photo of it being worn so we can get the full effect. Looks great so far!
