If the quaich finds its way to Cincinnati give us downstream kilted neighbors here in Louisville ample notice and we will try to either meet up with you Ohio folks or maybe arrange for a quaich day trip to Louisville to visit some bourbon distilleries, go to the Muhammad Ali museum, and get a picture next to the giant Louisville Slugger bat at their museum. We are only 100 miles away.

    Re: Norfolk

Right, where were we, before I was interrupted by do-gooding relatives who do good by getting me to do the doing.

So, more layers - going down!

Now we come to some of the 'goodies' that the Quaich has collected on its travels.

Down a layer - more goodies. Now we're getting close.

Finally, the final layer - the Quaich in its nest.

Is there anything more to see?

    No obviously not.

Tomorrow, in daylight, I will do a montage of all the goodies so far. There will also be the official welcome to the County and a welcome by the local Scottish community.

There will hopefully also be another Scottish themed event.

***Attention UK members*** - As quaiches do, the Quaich must move on. So can members please be thinking NOW of where it should be going next!***

"The time has come," the Walrus said,

    "To talk of many things:
    Of shoes—and ships—and sealing-wax—
    Of cabbages—and kings—
And why the sea is boiling hot—
    And whether pigs have wings."

And more to the point -- why haven't I gone to bed yet?

    See you all tomorrow -

    Regards

    Chas

    Re: Norfolk

So the Quaich has arrived in Norfolk and is on the move.

A picture at the border -

They use a special coating to make the sign extra reflective. But it attracts a kind of green algae and needs to be washed every three months. So it is extra reflective for a couple of days and then goes green.

The other side of the border is Suffolk -

    Notice - no special coating.

Just down the road is the Stanford Training Area or STANTA.

The land was appropriated from the public during WWII and has stayed as an Army training area ever since

This is the Quaich at the front gate -

They have this notice, because 'things' get found by the side of the road.

Next will be the oldest mine in the world.

    Regards

    Chas

    Re: Norfolk

Meghan, if you go to the forums page and scroll down to the Quest of the Quaich section you can see a picture postcard of everywhere the Quaich has been. It started in Canada, then travelled west, stopping at various countries until it made it to where it is now.

There is no official request thread. The best way is to either post your interest in the original Quaich thread, or if it's already close to your geographic location, send a PM to the member who has it currently.

I have already sent a PM to Anne, but have heard nothing back - hint, hint.
