Bright and early on a slightly chilly but clear morning the postman ascended to our front door to deliver a bulging parcel.

My son having just given his firstborn into my care for the day - and he being only 2 years old - the situation was not one for unpacking precious objects, particularly as he fixed his eyes upon the box and enquired 'Presents? Nana?' with obvious hope and expectation.

Now peace has descended, and unpacking can be done safely, but no photos, I'm afraid.

Our other offspring has just departed for a holiday in the US, and the new camera is conspicuously absent. There could be a connection.

Well - little did I know the consequences of that day - I was looking after my grandson as my daughter in law was going to a routine check up on the progress of her pregnancy.

Thanks to the hospital, clinic, doctors, midwives, and probably the Almighty, little Hayden James still has a good chance of survival, but he has not had the easiest of times.

I have not been able to go far from home as I never knew when I would be required to look after Jake whilst my son drove his wife to A & E again, plus there have been numerous appointments for further monitoring.

So the quaich and all the souvenirs were unpacked and looked over at my son's house,



and I was able to read through all the entries in the journal and decide what to add to the box



And Jake was only too pleased to be able to hold the 'shiny bowl' and have his picture taken



But the quaich has been here far too long and must continue on its way - so whither away?

Any update on where the Quaich is now? It will be just about a year in mid-March, so I'd imagine that it should ever so slowly and progressively begin making its way back to Steve in Victoria...
