Re: First Nations Style Kilt Pins

Thanks. I suppose I should have expanded the topic because of the kangaroo discussion; sorry about that.

My bear paw pin is a Zuni overlay, which is sterling silver that has been cut out in a paw print design, and soldered to an oxidized or blackened layer of silver for the silver and black contrast. It's fairly small, so I have put it on a ribbon, or in the past a swatch of tartan, when using it as a kilt pin.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Re: First Nations Style Kilt Pins

My son was married last summer on the wild west coast of Vancouver Island to a young lady who grew up there. We tried to combine the traditions of both families and so they had a very "west coast" style service right on the beach just before sunset. However, the groom his brother and I wore our kilts.

My son found this west coast native Raven pewter broach which he wore as a kilt pin. The Raven is a symbol or intelligence and creativity, both important in a happy marriage.
