I quite like it .... pretty strongly doubt it's that old as it looks to be in pretty good shape. I don't know it's a sporran or not but I'd like something like this as a sporran more than many sporrans

"This sporran was acquired by a U.S. soldier on leave in Scotland during WWII"...

I think he means he nicked it.

I suspect that thing is considerably less Scottish than me.

(Oooops... did I say that out loud?)

    Final Price- $710US.

Clearly I need to source some WW2 era North African/West Asian bags to start selling as sporrans

Re: "Old Sporran" on eBay, yikes, 1700s?

I doubt that thing is a true antique sporran. The leather looks too fresh to be very old and it is of a style that just does not look Scottish or even like an antique sporran. Most, but not all, surviving antique sporrans have a metal clasp or other type of closure mechanism. There are some extant that do not have any metal in them but none that have that awful ugly braided leather hanging all over them. If it is a sporran - and I gather that my fellow forumites are doubtful on that score - it could be Victorian since some truly hideous stuff came out of the Victorian fascination with all things Scottish.
