Casual or semi-trad for first kilt?

I have an Isle of Skye Casual from USAK made a couple of years ago. It was made at my request about an inch below my measurements at the time. I have lost about 3.5 inches. The velcro just about still works. The kilt is wearable. Not quite the excellent fit Rocky provides, but looks fine for casual wear. I've worn USAK Casuals to highland games, renfairs and kilt nights, and never felt like my kilt looked inappropriate or cheap.

Oh, you guys are going to get me in trouble with the wife; I'm trying to talk her into the USAKilts casual, and you guys are going to end up talking me into the semi trad! I'll have to start all over.

I've purchased 13 of each. Might as well order both. What I wound up doing is ordering my favorite tartans in the semi-trad. My favorite for sure.

BUT - in the humid hot summer nothing beats a casual. So - you need both....and a lot of them.

Semi-trad. It will be more versatile (as others have stated ) and looms better to my eye. I have a casual as well, but even for more casual events I pull out something more traditional. I have come to prefer the fit at the natural waist. However, if you plan to actually DO sporting events, the casual is definitely the way to go. But if you just want to watch, drink beer and have the option to dress it up for a nice dinner....semi-trad all the way.
