Nothing too exciting but as my one year XMarks anniversary landed on a Friday I had to wear a kilt. It was the first time I wore my new casual jacket bought because it is a more kilt friendly length.

    Cold fr9nt in Florida

The temps dropped to 60 degrees on thursday morning where I livë... That is rather cold for this Floridian! Wore my Isle of Skye kilt and my green tweed argyle jacket to work. As I normally wear a kilt on fridays, I was asked " it is thursday, why are you wearing your kilt?" My reply was it is cold and I needed to wear my woolies! Got a laugh!

On friday, I wore my Scotland national kilt.

    Happy Friday!

So this Friday marked 3 weeks of wearing my great kilts to work every day (except for 2 days where I had to be near spinning metal and needed overalls and steelies).

Here I am in cloak mode preparing a cuppa in the office kitchenette I'm lucky enough to work for a university where dress codes are quite relaxed and my line manager thinks it's all good fun!

I'm by no means an expert in the great kilt, but am happy to share what I've discovered as I've gone along, feel free to send message

It was woven by Peter MacArthur in the Borders, there's no further information about it as I cannot find it in the registry and the weaver has been shut for years apparently. Others have suggested that it is probably upholstery fabric hence why it isn't registered anywhere!

Well, if the ladies can make skirts out of curtains, you can make a great kilt out of upholstery fabric.

Curtains? Now there's an idea, that's cooking with napalm-level thinking. Time to Ebay hunt for "wool curtains, tartan"

When I was younger most dresses and shirts were made from flour and seed sacks.

I made a utility type kilt out of upholstery fabric. Heavier and thicker material so it was a bit of a problem sewing in the machine. Rather thick in the pleats and waistband. The material is rather stiff which is a factor when wearing it. Tomorrow is Friday so maybe that kilt will be part of my "Kilted Friday Adventure". Now I just have to figure out what kind of trouble to get into on a Friday....
