I also have a membership at a "store" across the street so I walk over and play with 'forbidden to mention here' toys at lunch every Friday. That's the 'adventure' part of my Fridays.

    Combine all the good stuff!

added pic from today, coworker took with phone so a bit fuzzy, sorry.

What's the good looking tartan you are wearing?

    Mael,

That's my California (official state tartan) in the muted color scheme. I like it a lot.

    And for good reason, Calico!

I am envious of you, XMarkers that have official State tartans.

One day, I may have to pursue this for the Old Dominion State.......

    Kilted Friday Not

There has been some recent discussion on threads how comfy the USA Kilt casual kilts are. When I woke up this morning, I knew the p@nts would remain in the closet. I really was hankering to be comfortable today! So, I put on my most recent USAK casual in the XMTS tartan, sans kilt belt, sans flashes/garters on my new discontinued Tain Kilt Hose from New House Highland. It was going to a rainy day so I shod my feet with my LL Bean duck shoes, my surplus Royal Navy mack picked up in the hunting store in Thurso last September. My topper was a black Stetson twill trilby . I was set for the stormy weather,

Two typical questions at work. It’s kilt day, so what’s the occasion? Today, my answer was I just wanted to comfortable. With new residents moving in I was asked was I Scottish or Irish. Yes, I am. I didn’t feel they were ready for the Irish Gaels in Argyll family history, so I just left it that my Scottish ancestry started in Northern Ireland.

    A good day!

    Re: Kilted Fridays Adventures

The day was to start warm and sunny and turn cooler with rain. Next up in my wardrobe was the right kilt; USA Kilt 5-yarder in Robertson Red. My sporran is by Artificer.

Seated at my desk, one of the ladies came by and said, “What kilt are you wearing, today? Standing up, she comment that is beautiful. Her husband, who was heading out to do some metal detecting on farm adjacent to a Civil War battlefield, confided he was hoping his genealogy research would show some Scottish blood to justify wearing a kilt. I told him it wasn’t required. He responded it would make it more special. I shared with him my connection to this tartan through my mother’s mother who was a Robertson.

I went out to pick up some photocopier paper. I passed two ladies on the sidewalk and one said to me, I love you hat! I thanked her and was a little surprised that she complimented my bonnet and not the kilt. But she is right I love my Ferguson Britt bonnet, too!

Later that afternoon, a lady wanted to get her dues check out of the drop box. When I got up, she exclaimed that is such a beautiful plaid. You have more plaid skirts than I do! (No offense, taken.) She told me she grew up in Michigan in a town with a Pennington ladies clothing factory and enjoyed quite a number of plaid skirts as a girl.

    A fun kilted day!

Great thread. I wear my kilt to work on Friday's every now and then. I guess I need to pick it up.

Sigh, I bought it through a local vendor. It was my first, when I first found this forum.

It was supposed to be Dalgleish, and the kilt was made in Scotland, but I do not have any actual proof which mill made the fabric or who the person was who made the kilt.

I didn't know enough to require an answer to those questions at the time.
