Most of my Kilted Fridays encounters in this thread have been at my place of employment. Last Friday, I retired. The photo here was taken after coming home from that last day of employment. A new range of possibilities now open up for kilted encounters. Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic limits things. But I remain hopeful.

My last day on the clock was last Wednesday evening. Went back in on Friday to turn in my keys and access badge.

Yesterday's outfit. Same as a few weeks ago - Ireland's National semi-trad from USA Kilts, khaki/light tan button-up shirt, oatmeal hose, green flashes, brown sporran and belt.

So, yesterday was pretty boring. Today, I was picking up an order at the bookstore and a guy wearing a kilt was on his way in. Rather unusual around here, so I stopped and talked with him for a few minutes (I was kind of blocking a driveway, so it was pretty quick). Looked like an Irish National box-pleated kilt. Nice enough guy. Didn't catch his name, though.

Mel, congratulations on your retirement. It is almost 12 years ago that I stopped working. And it did not take me long to get accustomed to a new way of living. And especially not to be able to wear a kilt practically every day, all day.

Right now, it about 8 am here in Denmark. In about half an hour I'll be out with the dog. I think, I'm going to wear a Holyrood or Farquharson tartan kilt today, dark grey kilt hose, thick shoes, and a dark blue wind breaker. It is sunny, the temperature around freezing, and probably my wife will join me and the dog. Forest and a meadow are just a few hundred meters away.

Another fine day to come.

Yesterday's outfit. Celtic Nations casual from USA Kilts, khaki/light tan button-up, dark blue hose with red flashes, and black sporran and belt. When I went out, dark gray flat cap and black boots.

I actually got several comments yesterday. Guy at the gas station asked if I got many comments on wearing unusual clothing, but thought it was cool. Guy behind me in line at the hardware store asked if it was the McAllister tartan. Later on, a gal who works at the hardware store asked if the kilt was new - I hadn't been there when she was working for quite a while, so I don't think she'd seen that one.

Most comments I'd gotten on a kilt in quite a while, especially for how little I was actually out.

Here is yesterday's Good Friday outfit with a breakdown. I built this outfit around the pocket square it is new and from Rampley & Co. The kilt is a Hunting Stewart from the Great War period, as best I can tell. Jacket and waistcoat from William Glen and Sons. Pocket watch is a dollar watch with a Victorian era chain and fob. Tie is from Ralph Lauren, shirt is Hugo Boss, and cuff links are from Duchamp. The sporran is by Artificer Custom Sporrans. The hose were hand knit on the Isle of Barra and the shoes are Cole Haan.

Well, it's not Friday, but I'm probably going to wear pants tomorrow. A casual outfit for work today.
