Exactly! This has always been one of my all time favorite pics too.

Seriously, I dig this picture and love seeing that sporran in action.
I also love the fact that you're not hiding, like most bassists seem to do.
Ah yes, I so loved growing up with this song...
I'm digging this sporran more and more lately. I probably would be hiding, but I'm in my small living room. Sides, I'm not a real bassist yet. Still learning how to play this confounded thing. Unlike a guitar though, I can actually do something that resembles music on it. A few more months and I'll be in the corner smoking a pipe while playing

Guns!!! Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Neither confirm nor deny!!
Thanks! Still looking for a better badge. This one looks good, but is a RPITA to put on. Still need to get off my butt and order my Ryan Ross bonnet too.

I'm with 3rd out here in Oki.
Anyway, love the outfit, love the sporran,
Thanks CC. Officially, no, I was not with them. Off the books though, I was sort of adopted into them. Short version of a very long story is that I was close friends with a LT there, and through an array of admin manipulation between commands, he had his team indoc me, and after unanimous vote, they took me in and jump qual'd me, put me on a SPIE rig, etc, and after that, I was a monthly "tag along", where I would go out with them, taking the place of one of their lads so they could drink beer, be with a lady friend, go fishing for a week, etc. It was a great couple of years, especially when CAX in 29 Stumps took place and I was with them for a full month. This was in the 80's, when things like that could happen. Not sure if it could be done these days.
A crisp salute to you sir, for your work!
I know that Creagdubh is a goldwing, so was most likely either RM or Air Delivery.

Thanks. My son took them. He has a bunch more that I haven't yet seen.
Here is a poem I wrote to go with them
Onslaught
The piper begins
His descent,
Nay, his onslaught
Into madness
Taking up the pipes
He rudely calculates--
Determines--give or take,
The pipe bladder
Holds enough.
To his oxter,
Goes the instrument
And, at that moment,
He turns and steps
Toward the sea.
There he hopes to find
Among some great,
Undersea glens and moors
His own Brigadoon
The rising sun glints
Off silver, ivory, and blackwood
While his sporran feels
The first rush of waves
Gulls and petrels
Take up his tune,
And the crashing surf
Beats the tattoo
There is a moment yet
When he is still with us,
We mere mortals
But then,
He leaves us
To join his Bonnie Fiona

From my days in bagpipe band. I was new and my cream hose hadn't even come in yet so I had to use a pair of scout socks.
The gentleman on the front left may look familar to some. That is Mike McNutt. He was our Pipe Major. You probably know him from his days playing with Tartanic. The snare player on the right rear is his brother Ryan. Both are very accomplished musicians.
