    Sterling Silver Badges!!

Greetings one and all. We have had an error in our pricing of our sterling silver crest badges. These were priced at $225.00, the correct pricing is $139.00 this has been corrected.

These badges are made by artist Don Kimble and are very high quality. So if you are looking for a new crest badge check these out.

These look very smart. I have a hallmarked silver clan badge from 1923 that looks almost identical to these.

I have one from the STM when they first started offering them, and it is the highest quality clan badge I have ever personally seen. I know there are other fine artisans out there who are doing similar work, but do not believe them to be likely any better than mine from STM, and would recommend them as high quality and value for the price. This item actually will be a family heirloom.

Just to show that these badges from the Scottish Tartans Museum Gift Shop are very much in the tradition, I thought I'd post a pic or two of a silver badge I have. This is how a lot of glengarry/bonnet badges looked before the mass produced pewter items of today. This one was made by John Fraser of Inverness and was hallmarked in Edinburgh, Scotland. There are several pics and audio interviews with John Fraser online at Am Baile, which are fascinating.
This is a badge for Clan MacAlister. When I began Gaelic lessons as a boy in 1970, as soon as I was in the school gates I was Adhamh MacAlisdair, hence my purchase. I bought this badge for around £5 back when £5 was a lot of money!

Note the loop on the rear top for sticking your plant badge in.

That's a very smart badge, mate and the fact that is of the 1920's and hallmarked is wonderful! I think the badges offered by the STM are quite nice too.

    Cheers,

    Cheers,
Yes, I'd seriously considering ordering one, as I say, they look like late 19th-early to mid 20th century Scottish silver crests, very lovely.

Yes, indeed. A particular style in which I prefer, from an era of Highland dress in which I admire greatly.

    Cheers,
