    Texas Aggies tartan

In my perfect world, Texas A&M University, one of my alma maters, would have a pipe and drum corps. If I ever hit the lottery, I would set up an endowment to fund it. I used the Scottish Tartan Authority Tartan Designer to make up a tartan for the uniforms.

The school colors are maroon and white; red, white and blue stripes for the flag of the Republic of Texas; brown is the color of the "senior boots" of the Aggie Corps of Cadets.

Nice tartan! I like it. Although, not an Aggie myself, I'm familiar with Aggies. My cousin, James Earl Rudder, is pretty well known around Aggie Land. I would wear the tartan in his honor, for sure!!

Whoop! Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 1996 here.

I too have been wanting a Texas A&M University tartan. I'm really surprised no one has registered one yet.

Beautiful tartan! Regardless of winning the lottery and funding a pipe and drum corps, I think you should register this tartan with the STA.

If there is enough interest, I would be happy to register the tartan with STA and investigate having it woven.
So what say the Aggie Rabble?

While I would love to see a Texas A&M tartan, if I'm being honest, I'm not overly thrilled with this particular design. The red/white/blue portion doesn't seem to really be what I had in mind in wishing for an official tartan. I understand the reasoning and significance of it, but it's just not what I think of when I envision Aggie colours. Maroon and white, of course, are mandatory. And often black is used on merchandise too. If I were designing a TAMU tartan, I would stick with these three primary colours. Maybe the tan/khaki could be utilised as well, but it would really depend on the overall presentation. As it is, though, I would have to say that the blue and red don't tickle my fancy.

Hope that doesn't sound overly critical, but I see there haven't been any other responses, and maybe it will re-open a dialogue about it...
