    Cilts/Kilts and Old Pubs

In answer to Guardsman's question about the old pub in the picture I put in my last post, I started going through some more old pictures that I have taken from other interesting watering holes. So I thought I would repost some of them again. They all sell a great sellection of real ales
Yep the pub below is the infamous Blue Anchor. An old smugglers pub that opened its doors in 1380.

Here is a picture of the Skirrid Inn, the oldest pub and most haunted inn in Wales. It dates back to 1306.

And here a bunch of random pictures from some of the places we get to throughout the year on our walks and adventures.

This place did open 5mins after the pic. Its quite a remote pub and a long walk but well worth the visit for real ale and food. They also make their own ice cream and offer goats cheese from their own goats.

Nothing like a proper pub/saloon/bar/tavern...the genuine ones have that proper patina that a true connoisseur can always appreciate. The bartender at The Duke here told me that one of his friends is in charge of gathering "antiques" for some of the franchises here in the States that he refers to as "Pub in a box"...built new to look old and decorated with tchachkes to make it look like it's been in the family for generations. Say "yes" to real pubs and "no" to the phoney ones.

Derek: is the second one down on the random selection the Bush at St Hilary, which had a national reputation, and if so was it before or after the fire in 2008?
