Scottish Country Dancing

Could we have a section dedicated to Scottish Country Dancing. I know that there is a section called Celtic Dancers, but that really is not the same.

"A place to discuss the art of Celtic dancing" - In truth, I don't think that such a thing exists. (Wikipedia doesn't know what it is!)

Far better to call it Scottish Country Dancing, because that is what it is.

This is not a big thing - just a re-name.

As I recall I was the one who proposed that section and that my idea was that it could incorporate both Scottish Country Dance and Highland Dance, not to mention related dancing pursuits like Irish Step dance, céilidh dancing, Cape Breton Step dancing, reeling, etc.

I'm not sure how many X Markers are involved with these different kinds of dance so it may be that renaming it for SCD would be most appropriate now.

We have many members who, for one reason or another, will only wear a kilt to "Scottish" events. By re-naming to SCD it puts the activity more in their face and might make them more aware of it and the kilt wearing potential.

As you know, I'm a highland dancer, but probably the only active dancer on the group. I'm not opposed to a name change, but maybe Scottish Dance would be more appropriate? That seems a bit more inclusive of most forms of Scottish dancing than just SCD.

I'd agree, Celtic Dance or Scottish Dance sounds more inclusive than SCD.
I go to a Scottish dance class once a week and although we usually spend more than half the evening doing proper Country Dance (i.e.set dances) we also do couples Scottish dances such as the Lomond Waltz, the Kelivingrove Twostep and the Gay Gordons.

I'm an active highland dancer and I agree with the name of Scottish Dance.

All forms of dance should be included in the section. It would just be more interesting that way.
