MacDonald/McDonald, Hugh - born about 1790 in Pennsylvannia?

anyone know/have info about the ancestors of a Hugh (M?/A?) Mac9Mc) Donald, born about March 15(?), 1790(?)/(1793?) in Pennsylvannia?
He married Grizella Riley ( daughter of John Riley, mother Nancy _?)(born about 1796, in Kentucky) about 1816 in Nicholas County, Kentucky.
A daughter ( don't know if any other siblings) Harriet MacDonald, born about Sept 9, 1844, in Boone County, Indiana - an ancestor of mine.
Hoping I can find out where these MacDonalds came from, in Scotland.
thanks for any info (please list sources/ links, what have you).

I guess the question for me would be, "who are his parents"? Then you could check the shipping manifests of the ships of the day that brought Scottish settlers to North American shores. Not an easy task. A lot of work and probably some dead ends. It is possible that the family landed in New York, or Philadelphia.
Good luck with your search. I'm interested in your findings as I too am a MacDonald.

I have no info as to who his parents were - that's why I'm asking, in hopes that someone else has the info already ...

Any idea where in Pennsylvania he was born? Most of the Pennsylvania counties have their own historical societies, some with better records than others. You can work backwards from there.

If their family moved to Noble County, Ohio, then you and I are cousins.
Scotland is only 1/5 the size of Montana, but Scotland has over 3,000 castles and Montana has none.

I found the following through Ancestry.com, but the information is from www.findagrave.com, which is free and can be accessed directly. I hope this helps!
I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the information, but near the bottom of the page there is a link to the email address of the person who supplied the data. She claims to be Hugh’s descendant. There are also links to information about other family members.
