Desert Island Discs - sort of

Well in line with the BBC radio programme Desert Island Discs I thought it might be interesting to see what one Scottish item you would take with you if you were stranded on a desert Island. Now it might be your favourite kilt, sporran, sgian dubh, belt buckle, bottle of single malt etc etc . . The important thing is that it can only be one item. What would you save. No fence sitting allowed. It can be an item that you covet but have not yet acquired or that signed picture of Harry Lauder. It has to be a tangible possesion no fanciful or dreamed up collections.

You are allowed one item and one item only.

To kick it off mine would be my Arctic birch handled Sgian Dubh. not only beautiful but functional as well.

I think it would have to be my MacLaren weathered tank. It would keep me warm at night and cool during the day and the colours would provide a measure of camouflage in case of man eating predators.

I have never seen the show and may not fully understand the concept so let me know if I am off the mark here but the item that came to my mind is...

Lol well I guess she is Scottish, I guess it should be said that it should be an inanimate object. Your most treasured Scottish possession. Although some might say that after seeing her acting that she qualifies as an inanimate object. Not me though shes gorgeous.

It is a Friday morning radio show on BBC Radio 4, a very long running one. The concept is that when cast away on a desert island - which 8 records - the grooved black disks sort - would the castaway select to play on the island. There is usually some biographical information thrown in, and then at the very end the castaway had to decide which single record would be rescued in the event of some catastrophy and can select one book, in adition to the bible or other holy book and one luxury item, which cannot be an animate object.

My luxury would be a very comfortable canopied camp bed - everything looks beter after a good night's sleep.

If it was a desert island, it would have to be the best quality dirk I could find. A weapon and a tool.

    Regards
