    Manor House and Tithe Barn

Thought I would post a few pics from what was an absolutely amazing place we played at yesterday in the Cotswolds ...
We were booked to perform at a wedding. The venue was in the grounds of an old manor house built in 1614. The house was built around the church in the pic which was constructed in 1145. We played in the Tithe Barn which was the earliest built building there dated 1115.

    Here some pics ..

    The Manor House

The Church which is now part of the garden

    The Tithe Barn

Our little set up ready to go in the Barn

The wedding took place in the woods and we had to take some acoustic instruments and play behind the bride as we and all the guest walked to the spot (which was about quarter of a mile from the barn)

Then it was back to the barn for the reception

After that they moved all the tables back ready for the evening where we did a few songs etc and lots of Ceilidh Dancing .. its was a really good day (and to top it we even got paid for it ).

I am always amazed at the beauty and longevity of buildings such as these. We are rather young here in the colonies and have nothing as old as the 1100's. What a marvel of construction, design and beauty. Fantastic venue to play music and celebrate a wedding. Thanks for sharing these, incredible indeed.

A couple more pics ... playing randomly in this little glade where there put on the champagne on our walk back from the ceremony back to the barn.

And a pic again of the side of the manor house with a stack of Jackdaws overhead, who were making lots of noise. It was one of them moments which captured some of the Hammer films ... starting to get dark, horse n carriage, lost and being invited in to spend the night ... Dracula ish...

It is really good to see these place being used and maintained. Once history is lost it is gone for good.

Is the manor house occupied? I noticed no curtains at the windows.

    Regards
