U.S. Border Patrol Pipes & Drums Band

I was privileged to perform duty as a U.S. Border Patrol Agent on the U.S./Mexico border for more than 8 years in the 1980īs. I have just come to learn that the Patrol now has itīs own Pipes and Drums Band. Below is the Band performing at the 2012 National Police Week in D.C. I think they did well.

Playin' pipes along the border may be a better deterrent than a fence...

Good to see common sense with their jackets unbuttoned in the heat.

    Buttoned up jackets

Truth is, in that performance, it was raining and had just given the band a break for the moment. The USBP does not button up the Ike jacket. It is always open. The Honor Guard has a different jacket that is long and does button. Still, they both can be very hot.
