Ya know what I like here?

    Something marvellous about XMarks:

We have blue blooded armigers . . . we have heinz 57 mutts (like me!),
We have wealthy, well-off folks . . . we have those who have to save for everything,
We have folks here with doctorates . . . we have dropouts

and, generally except for a few slightly frayed edges here and there where our human selvedges come loose, we get along well and laugh and support one another.

Well done moderators, but particularly, well done members. I'm proud to be an XMarker!

Legion Padre, theologian, teacher, philosopher, linguist, encourager of hearts & souls & a firm believer in dignity, decency, & duty. A proud Canadian Sinclair.

I feel excluded. Was that deliberate?

    There I am.

I agree. This is fun. This is useful. Well said, Father Bill.

I've made friends with some excellent people here that I never would have met otherwise. And I've also learned to be ashamed of the little flatcap that perches atop my slowing balding head.

As am I, Father Bill. Thanks for opening this thread and putting into words what so many of us feel so deeply.

It is always good to be different, otherwise we might all be wearing nothing but Modern MacKenzie off the shelf kilts. Keeps us all interesting when we come from different backgrounds for a common good. Even when we disagree there is the ability to communicate about it instead of just inflicting our ideas on someone as the gospel truth. I see our world fragmenting rapidly and am glad this forum has people who seek a common ground regardless of where ya come from.... Prost

Great thread FB! And have you noticed that we are all like family? I.E., we can disagree and get upset with each other, but at the end of the day we get over that and are all still friends.

    Well said Padre.
This should be a 'sticky' so when things start to get out of hand we can look back at it and get a grip on things.

Was it W.C. Fields that said, "I'd never belong to a club that would have me as a member!"? Well, not me! I feel honored to be able to associate myself with this group. When I'm in Scotland, I will proudly be wearing my xmarks kilt and badge, and I hope I'll be recognized by some other xmarkers there.
Scotland is only 1/5 the size of Montana, but Scotland has over 3,000 castles and Montana has none.

It was Groucho Marx but who's counting. I too greatly enjoy my time here and have found a spiritual home for what I once thought was a slightly strange pursuit in liking the kilt and wanting to know more about the heritage and kinfolk of Scotland.
