    Busking tips

For any that play on the streets, any tips for busking? Things to stay away from, not do, etc?

I have a clear understanding of my city's laws on it. I'm allowed to do it.

I don't do a lot of busking myself, but I have performed in public a few times.

Make sure you're not blocking access to a building/storefront/walkway. (Even better would be to ask the manager of the location you're wanting to play in front of if it's OK to do so).
Have your case open (& 'seed' it with a coupla bucks) - keep your eye on it while you're playing.
Don't spend hours in one spot, move around.
Move on when asked to do so.
Be ready to answer all kinds of questions (you know what I mean), and be ready to talk about the tunes as well.
Demonstrate what you're talking about if it seems they're really interested.

Play what people want to hear. If that means 'Highland Cathedral' 40 times a day - so be it.

People rarely stand and listen to the whole song, so if possible learn medleys - all the best bits of all their favourite tunes put together.

If it is possible, learn 'Happy Birthday'.

    Regards

Hmm, almost what I expected. I still have a few popular tunes to memorize, but I've got maybe 30 minutes of music. I'll probably repeat that over and over and over anyways.

The best advice I can offer is:
If you can't trade on Tryon, try on Trade.
