    Another New Brass Cantle Style

    Hi All,
it's been quite the busy week here.
I just put the finishing touches on a new cantle style.
Classic round top in a buttery-soft oxblood leather with brass studded targe.

    With a matching strap

    Front

    Detail of the cantle

Hopefully somewhere in the next two or three cantles I'll get to do one of the trick latches where at least one other action
is required before the piece can be opened. I've got two alternate designs worked up, both based on original mechanisms.

As always, constructive commentary is most welcome.

Nothing constructive, Artificer. Just plain admiration. You do beautiful work.

Well done mate, did not know that you had started to curve brass. Is it hand done and were you able to aquire a bender at the right price? Good to see another person likes a plentifull amount of "godess eyes" and as usual a splendid design on the front. Nice touch using the brass rivets

Thanks gang! It's always a treat to do something totally new design-wise.

Yup, another tool, another toy . The arc is hand done on an old-school roller I got for a fantastic price.
The last piece I'm (still) investigating buying is a watchmaker's lathe- for cutting special parts (pulls, knobs, a few fittings for the locking mechanism, etc) but they're murderously expensive.
