The Scotsman didn't seem to rate the organisation very highly:-

What a shame. Then again there seems to have been a good turnout for Armed Forces Day in Stirling.
Then again, The Scotsman also published this article:-

Just back from a wonderful trip to Scotland. My wife and I attended the Bannockburn celebration on Saturday. With the exception of the heavy afternoon rain, we had fun at the festival. For those interested, here is a link to our photos of the event:

Alex, we stopped by the tent a couple of times but you were not around. We did have an opportunity to meet your wife who, at the time, was worried about you because she suspected you were stuck in the long, snaking line of bumper to bumper traffic coming into the park. Maybe next time we’ll be able to meet.

Visit Scotland came good in attracting visitors from all over the world and eventually having a capacity crowd both days. The downside was the queues. I had to queue forty minutes for a burger and coffee for lunch on Sunday and there were long queues for the battle re-enactments. Though on both days the last performances at 4pm proved less popular and weren't quite filled to full capacity so those of us from the clan tents who wanted to see the re-enactments were able to follow directly in to the 4pm re-enactment without queuing after the last public in the queue had filed through and been admitted.
From a clans perspective everybody seemed to enjoy themselves thoroughly and as with the Edinburgh Gathering in 2009 it looks like the Scottish public will criticise the event while the overseas visitors will say they thoroughly enjoyed it.
I've been busy with my own clan ferrying our overseas members by minibus to and from airports and guest houses, setting up, hosting and taking down the tent etc. Sadly our Chief was unable to attend but I can't recall ever having seen so many clan Chiefs in the one place at the one time.
Our tent was visited on Saturday by Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond.
I wore my xmarks dandelion all day Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately I missed Chewse but was able to get photocalls with tpa and MacRobert's Reply.
With MacRobert's reply on Saturday.
With tpa on Sunday.
I took lots of pictures and have uploaded 144 to Flickr if anyone is interested:-

Alex: Thanks for the link to all the pics. Very entertaining. The only thing wrong with them was that they ended. I loved the one of the king on this throne where his feet don't reach the ground, and the lady with the inverted cromach that looks a lot like a putter.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

This is the games in Ceres, Scotland. They are the oldest games having started in 1314 to celebrate the fact that all 9 men of the town who fought at the Battle of Bannockburn returned home alive.

A few more of the games in Ceres. I did not take any more pictures because it started to rain and it wasn't my camera.

Thank you AcuteEnigma; although my home was in Fife, I've never been there.
