27 lbs. Wow! What a load to tote around. It must feel good when you take it off. I wish I could drop that much as quickly.

Thanks for the monikers. I should have recognized Spartan Tartan. I've seen his pictures before. You all look great in those kilted outfits. Also, thank for all the armor pics. Very impressive.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

You're right, but I wish you hadn't said it.

It was a fun day. Too bad the museum is closing, but we may make another trip this fall. My wife and son found some upcoming events to be interesting enough to want to return prior to closing.

Thanks for sharing those pictures, it's wonderful to see these collections, especially when so much ends up being taken out of public view, sometimes for years. Museums are like fun parks for me. I am fortunate enough to be able to pop into the Leeds branch of the Royal Armouries quite regularly. Quite a collection!

Your guide there has an excellent mail shirt with shoulder doubling, like the Vacheres statue, late 1st century B.C., generally identified as Gallic especially due to the sword type, as also worn by Romans and quite appropriate for A.D. 60. Doesn't really slow you down, but your calves feel it if you're on your feet all day! The sword seems to be a "Rivet Hilt" AKA “Knoll-Pommel” type which I thought was a bit early, but it was good enough for Alex Kingston in Boudica / Warrior Queen (2003) and that's a fair endorsement. Play the old heirloom card :-)

Thanks again, I do hope they can keep the collection on display.
