My wife got me some of that store egg nog you see. I happen to enjoy egg nog as it is but I opted to make it a little more authentic and added some rum. I wasn't going to add my scotch. It turned out really good, it was about 2oz run to 8 or 9oz egg nog.

That's exactly what I did this evening. I added Bacardi Gold to store bought egg nog. Great minds think alike! ith:

My lovely, talented and thoughtful wife just returned home with a new bottle of Dalwhinnie 15. I am a fortunate man indeed.

My wife just handed me a snifter of Baileys Vanilla Cinnamon! Chilled, of course. (She and her sister love the stuff.) While not a good single malt or my go-to bourbon (Makers' Mark), it is interestingly tasty.

A very, very dear friend opened a bottle of Amrut Greedy Angels for us this evening. Just a shy dram shared by two, but you will understand why when I tell you he paid over USD300 for the bottle. And that was a bargain! Amrut usually bottles at 3 to 4 years and is IMO quite an acceptable malt at that age. This cask, however, was aged for over 8 years and lost a large percentage to the angels, they say. Fewer than 300 litres in the bottling. Amrut's Fusion has a sweet/citrus taste and I like that one quite a lot. What's the difference for the angel's payment? Nothing that I could taste. Sorry, my friend: seal it and just add it to your exceptional collection. Thank you for the opportunity and the wide-ranging chat.

Finally tore myself away from my beloved Islay malts--Peat Freak that I am--and bought a bottle of Monkey Shoulder, a blend of only single malts (which apparently includes Balvennie, one of my favorite non-Islays) with no neutral grain alcohol added, what used to be known as a vatted malt. Not bad, and the bottle itself is a keeper for decanting, etc., but I shall likely soon return to my old standbys, Ardmore, Finlaggan, Ardbeg 10 or (for more special occasions and/or whenever a warmer sporran allows, Ardbeg Chieftain or Uigeadail. Ardbeg is what I expect to smell on God's breath when I die and--presumably--go to Heaven)....
And, on the subject of Scots whisky, how about that wonderful new "Keep Walking" television advertisement for Johnny Walker: http://www.ispot.tv/ad/72aA/johnnie-...l-keep-walking
I've never been a fan of Johnny Walker or any of the other premium neutral grain blended brands, but this ad is absolutely Right There. Any woman who's trying to understand "where Men are coming from" should watch it. It won't answer all of the questions, but it will answer quite a few.
Happy Holidays To All My Kilted Brethren. Slainte!
Best Regards,
