My wife and I attended a very nice whisky tasting at Jefferds Tavern in York, Maine this evening. Tonight's selections were Balvenie Doublewood, Glenmorangie Lasanta, Glenmorange Quinta Ruban and Dalmore. I especially enjoyed the Glenmorangie Lasanta and the Dalmore.
Jefferds Taven is a neat place. It dates from around 1750 and is no longer an actual tavern but part of the Museums of Old York (which hosted tonight's event). In addition to good whisky, ladies in period dress made oatcakes and had a kettle of cullen skink going on the open hearth and live music was provided by a fiddler and a harpist.
Cold and snowy here tonight and we got home just as the heavy snow began. We're due for 12" to 15" overnight and I don't have to be anywhere until it's over so I'm finishing off the night with a dram of Laphroaig Quarter Cask.

Scout, I LOVE Balvennie Double Wood! Absolute nectar of the gods. I gave a bottle of it to my girlfriend's mother a few years ago for Christmas and she cooed like a dove when she tasted it.
York sounds like a lovely part of the world, and not too terribly far from both Camden--which often makes various lists of the best places to live/retire to in the US (if you can afford it and are willing to suffer the season onslaught of tourists), and Boston, which I love more each time I go there.
We've had a bit of snow here in Chicago also, which is perfect for the kilt-wearing contrarian in me. Very amusing to see the expressions on the faces of the bundled-up, pants-dependent sissies!
Best Regards,

A nip of Glenmorangie whilst putting decorations on the Christmas tree this afternoon worked wonderfully.

It's so cute, I almost can't bear to drink it. Almost.
Cheers!

Glenfiddich Special Reserve 12, my first in two weeks after spending part of that flat on my back with a herniated disc that required urgent care in hospital and semi urgent surgery. Back home now still predominantly on my back but at least within a whistle of my whiskey cabinet.
On my first post hospital outing I was with the Wife at a local mass marketing wholesaler and saw something I will have to get a picture of for anyone else to believe. This is just a warning that something queer this way comes.

I've enjoyed Laphroaig 10 immensely. I can only imagine how awesome the 18 must be. I'm jealous. This evening I am working on polishing-off the Speyburn 10.
