Appalachia,
It was great seeing you again at Grandfather Mountain, $20 and you are a member of Clan Sinclair, my friend! Highland Park 12 is one of my favorite single malts. Before they were the Earls of Caithness, the Sinclairs were the Jarls of Orkney!

Most of the Highland Park range have now been renamed.
Highland Park 12 year old has become
Highland Park Viking Honour (in an impressive box and bottle).
Above that is a new HP whisky, Highland Park Dragon Legend, A much more smokey version of the traditional HP.
If you are lucky enough to be in the UK..
HP VH is on sale at Tescos for £25 for 70cl
HP DL is on sale at tesco for £30. for 70cl
for both that's between 20 and 30% off the normal price, a discount worth having...
PS no connection with Tesco other than, I just bought a case of HP VH yesterday and a couple of bottles of HP DL, I think i still prefer HP VL

An early Christmas gift from a co-worker. I'm not usually a fan of rye, but this is very good. A relative newcomer and made right here in the Olde North State.

I see this is made in Statesville, NC. There must be a spring around there to supply the water. They usually have the same red clay that is in Orange County that taints the water (color and taste).
I was partial to the "white lighting" that my uncle got from the hills near Monroe. That was during the 1970's and we speak of those days in hushed volume.

I am about half way through a bottle of Dalmore 15. It was previously opened for a while, so I didn't have great hopes for the taste, but was surprised that it's still good.

It's funny around here in red clay country - One well won't produce water that's fit to wash clothes in (unless you like your whites orange, from either the red clay or iron), while a well on the other side of the hill, literally, has water clear as a bell.
Even today it's not too difficult to "get your corn from a jar" if you're so inclined. Either from the state run outlets or... otherwise.
