I met with about 6 or 7 WWII vets today, and we made a good attempt on that bottle. I had every man who joined me sign the label. This will be kept as a reminder of every one of them.
DO NOT drink Calvados on an empty stomach, I missed breakfast this morning dealing with the public.
It was even enough to knock the wind out of even grizzled combat veterans. Jock, your advice is so true.

Calvados like whisky is a mood drink as well as an "occasion" drink and I find like whisky, some Calvados is better than others. When we stay with family and friends in Normandy they usually have a wee shot of Calvados after dinner and I find that that suits me perfectly.

When we return home from Normandy, we usually bring a couple of large bottles of Calvados home with us. Mrs Jock sometimes puts a wee slug of it into a chicken, pheasant, game casserole and crikey, that addition does bring out the flavours to the dish very effectively!

After a long 4 day weekend on call at work, I'm relaxing tonight with a nice glass of Dalwhinnie 15 year old. Quite a nice way to relax and unwind!

Added a bottle of Tomatin 12 to cabinet and giving it a try for the first time. Lots of orange and apple on the nose. A quite enjoyable dram.

Just picked up a Lagavulin 9 GOT edition from the PX today. Excellent dram! Not quite as deep, rich, and complex as its older brother, but Lagavulin quality nonetheless. Cheers!
