I have still been largely on my detour from Scotch Malt Whisky into Bourbon and various other currently popular American Whiskey styles--including a fair amount of "White" Whiskies (or White Dog, as they are also called here in the US--but feel I am ready to return to the Old Sod, especially now that the seasons are about to turn. I'm thinking I will start with either Talisker Storm, or maybe even Laphroaig Cask Strength 10 Year...

After a lot of years trying out a very wide variety, I've pretty well settled down to Aberlour and Aberlour Abunadh. Glenlivet Nadura isn't bad either.

As a result, I now have a whole bunch, therefore, of partial bottles to be finished off with Drambuie for 'Rusty Nails' where they're not noticed so much.

I've always been partial to the smoky, peaty Islay scotches. Lagavulin and Laphroaig are my "go to" drams. I just returned from this year's New Hampshire Highland Games, where Laphroaig always sponsors a tasting. This year we sampled the 10 Year Cask Strength, Triple Wood, Cairdeas, and Lore. As an added treat there was a fifth pour only marked with a "?" which was revealed as Laphroaig 25 Year! I was amazed that they included it in the tasting!

We also got a coupon with which you could purchase a bottle of the 25 Year for just $499! That being a bit rich for my blood, I'm back to my Triple Wood and Lore when I want to splurge.

At the Scotland County Highland Games in Laurinburg, NC (USA) yesterday, I had wee drams of Old Pulteney 12, Glenmorangie Original, Monkey Shoulder, Glenfiddich 12, and Talisker. I really enjoy convening at Games!
