    Dry Cleaning a Wool Kilt

I have found a dry cleaner that works with kilts in my area. Are there any special directions I should give them for dry cleaning a wool kilt? thanks.

Check out BarbT's tutorial on basting the pleats before you let them touch it.

For sure, I have a kilt that was not basted before cleaning, its a mess.
Had I picked it up, rather than my wife, I'd be in jail on assault charges... I was furious!

This was way before I found XMTS and all it's knowledgeable members.
    Thanks again ladies and gents.

Tell your Dry Cleaners to put in BIG RED letters all across the forms.

    DO NOT PRESS!!!

All you want them to do is clean it and then hang it up.

If God had wanted me to send my kilts to the dry cleaners, He never would have given me Woolite.

    Cheers,

If you decide to dry clean it, make sure they are doing it by hand and do not apply the chemicals to the leather straps. My kilt straps were ruined permanently the first time i cleaned it in the states. I recommend against any dry cleaning.
