Scottishkilts.net is great. Their turnaround time is absolutely outstanding. I ordered a kilt from them and had it in my hands in under 4 weeks.
A tartan would be an expensive proposition and I'm not sure that it would fly. A kilt pin, otoh, might be doable. Should stay away from the enamled stuff though. Looks too much like junk sold to tourists as momentos of every cattle crossing they pass through. Perhaps a nice cast X done in celtic knotwork.

I agree about the tartan and the enamle pin not working. Let me work on some ideas for a kilt pin though. I have a couple in mind. Does anyone know someone who would be able to make the pins, and make them good. Then sell them for us?

I know a guy in Australia who makes really nice celtic jewellery, including pewter stuff.
I have asked him if he makes kilt pins, he said no, should I ask if he is willing to custom make one?
Can we guarantee an order?
Here is his work: http://www.celticmotifs.com.au/
actually, what about his brooches? would they make a good kilt pin?

I would like to see a custom job for X Marks kilt pins. Ask him what he would charge for setup and then for each pin, then we can get the members of the board to pledge for a pin and the cost of setup.
Hows that sound? We can also look at other vendors...

I like this one, I found it at http://www.customceltic.com
It's a little on the expensive side, but I like the design of it. (Frankly I couldn't afford a pin at that cost)

I love it, very nice indeed, but at the rate I loose them if it's more than $20 - forget it

Man are you guys incredible! Just saying something tongue in cheek, and you guys fly with it, a kilt pin all our own. Does this mean because we wear the kilt, our imagination genes are in overdrive?

Tongue in cheek??? I thought you were serious, careful what you say here Glen, we take kilts very seriously here you know

I know Graham,
I really was hoping that someone would pick up on it. Besides if I kept my tongue in my cheek too much, I wouldn't eat as much.
I have gone back and looked at the pin more, and I still think it is a really neat looking pin. You have class. Of course anyone in a kilt has class.

Bear,
If you are following this thread, do you think Rudi might be interested in this pin project?
