Well done Ron, congratulations.
I quit the drink in 2004 but I had a brief relapse when Ann died at the beginning of 2011, not had any alcohol since then and don't intend starting again.
Here's to many happy sober years ahead, we can toast each other with water.

Thanks guys....no gold coin....think they're brass. The wonderful part of not drinking is no one took anything away from me. Its been my choice and IF I ever decided to drink again it'll be my choice too. Not drinking has been a courtesy to local police departments, jailers, emergency room docs, ambo drivers and psych ward techs.

Ohhhh, how considerate of you!
Reminds me of one of my favorite lines when someone asks of my choice; "I had to give it up, seemed like every time I drank I'd see spots... spots like emergency rooms, jail cells..."

Having known a couple of families where people died or disappeared after not seeing that their drinking was a problem to anyone - so why were they all complaining - it seems like a very difficult thing you have accomplished. I'm glad you are with us.

Aye, thanks. I wear my Leatherneck and Dress Blue Marine tartan kilts for my little brother, a USMC Drill Instructor, who didn't make it due to booze. Just got the call one day that he was dead and could I please come and identify the body. Don't think there's anyone who can't make a list of folks they knew who died of booze or because of booze. Its so nice to still be alive when you quit booze.

Ron, that is a true achievement. And I'm glad you not only learned from it, but share your experience with others attempting to shake similar addictions. Keep it up.
