Nelson Mandela's Welcome to the City of Glasgow was written in honor of this great man by Blair Douglas.
Here is a fusion of Scottish and African dancing with this music.

Any 6/8 time rhythm will work for a jig and any 4/4 will work for a reel. I've experimented with reels over hip hop beats and that fits perfectly.

Is there a national forgetfulness here? South Africa shared a shameful history of discrimination which I found very difficult to understand in the context of supposedly "civilised" societies. Growing up in Britain I found it impossible to understand how fellow human beings could be excluded from quite normal activities but that was very much the case in some other societies also for reasons I could not understand. These same societies were quite comfortable funding terrorism and murder elsewhere such as Ireland without suffering the consequences themselves but, suddenly, this double standard came home to confront them and they were not prepared for it. Perhaps these same people should embrace the values of someone like Nelson Mandela whose values must be an example to us all.
