Carrie, your son's sgian looks terrific! I especially like the knot work in the silver ferules. Overall, a gorgeous gift. Your son will be thrilled! Terry's produced another winner.

Yesterday was my son's birthday, and I was finally able to give him his knife! It arrived a week ago, and although painful I managed to keep myself from opening it (I really liked the way Terry had wrapped it and wanted that to be its wrapping). When he opened it last night he was very excited, then I had him read the letter Terry had enclosed explaining where all the parts of the knife came from. Terry had even enclosed a six pence for Lachlan to give to us in exchange for the knife, explaining the custom of exchanging the money for the knife. Lachlan became very quiet and studied the sgian for a few moments then simply came and gave his father and me a hug. He has taken it out many times since then to look at it. I have to say that the pictures of the knife are beautiful, but they are nothing compared to holding the actual item. Terry does amazing work and his attention to detail is something that is hard to come by anymore. It was a wholly pleasurable experience, and I am trying to figure out when I would be in need of a knife...
