Bespoke Sgian Countdown...
I ordered a sgian from Terry for my son's birthday next month. I am getting very excited. The handle will be bog oak, with a red agate on the pommel. The carving is of a howling wolf (my son's favorite animal). Here are some pictures he sent me of the plans.

Carrie, that sounds awesome. The pictures have disappeared. Please re-post them for us. Thanks!

Likewise, I don't see any photos. But as one who owns one of Terry's outstanding sgians (and a matching dirk), I can tell you, you will be very pleased with his work!

Alright, trying the pictures again!Hopefully they work this time. Unixken, your thread was what gave me the idea for the sgian in the first place!

I can see the photos now. Expect a terrific sgian dubh from Terry, and you'll enjoy working with him.
As for my sgian by Terry, it's the one I carry almost exclusively, and I'm always proud to show it off. I'm certain you son will likewise take great pride in his.

I see the sketches now, as well. Very nice, Carrie. I can't wait to see pictures of the finished project.

I have only recently become aware of Terry's work (through the link in the advertisers column) and am delighted that this fine artisan handiwork is still practiced. After reading about his materials and methods I am sure that your son will be receiving a magnificent gift that will become a family heirloom.

There are pictures of my sgian on Terry's site, the one with the thistle carving and the maple leaf on the butt. As Farmer Jones said your son will have an heirloom to pass on. Now which one of my heirs is worthy? hmmm.
I'm just trying to be the person my dog thinks I am.

But, don't you need to have one good sgian to pass on to each potential heir?

Yes, keep us updated on your sons Sgian, with photos when it arrives. I hear Terry's work is excellent.
