White hose are ok for kids - they look quite cute - but not for adults unless as part of a band uniform. If for some reason you have to wear white, this should be restricted purely to formal occasions and never when wearing your kilt casually/semi-formally.
    Hi Robbie,

For once, I'm inclined to agree with you. (OK - Don't look at my avatar - the cream hose on display were the only pair I had at the time!!) I think cream hose are fine also on formal occasions but agree that coloured hose are best for more casual occasions.

    Kilt Hose Colour

I do have a pair of off-white hose, which my kilt maker told me was OK, but advised against ever wearing pure white. My other two pairs of kilt hose are Lovat Green.

I would agree with Kilted John concerning Lovat green hose. Wash them at a lower temperature than specified, unless you want to end up with kid sized hose.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I do think I may need to purchase the Lovat green hose.

In terms of white hose, I do tend to agree with you all. I have a pair of cream coloured hose, but could not buy pure white. Too bright.

Personally, I like the white cotton when I'm wearing my combat boots. They seem to breathe better and my feet don't get as nasty as with colored hose. That's when I'm working on some project of course. Most of the time I wear navy colored hose.

    Lovat Green

    Graham:
If you wear Lovet Green with the Gunn tartan then I should look just as good in Lovet Green with the MacLaren since the only difference between the two is the yellow stripe in my MacLaren.

Welcome to the board CR, that's an interesting piece of information, I've just ordered a Gunn but could really have done with a McLaren. So I'm not far off after all.

I must have missed this, or senility has crept in and I just can't remember. You've ordered a tartan kilt - way forward pal.
