I'm in my late 20s, don't follow sports and never have. I don't think that age has anything to do with it.

I responded 'Maybe' because I'm enough of a casual sports fan to appreciate the overlap in tribe mentality between tartan as family identifier and team colors as a bond between fans. And a Boston Bruins black/gold/white tartan could be pretty sharp... it might not make the top of my 'tartan I'd like to have someday' list but in a PV casual kilt it would be tempting.

But I understand why it's not a popular idea here, where I think the majority of active members cleave to tradition when it comes to tartan worn proudly as a signifier of personal identity (versus universal tartan or 'wear what you like but have an answer when someone asks about it'). People who wear a tartan based on their affiliation with a clan are very proud of their Scottish heritage, and I think maybe the idea of sports team tartans feels a little like appropriation or dilution; it's a subtly different concept than a universal tartan. I'm a little ambivalent myself.

I'm late to the party (as usual), but I feel compelled to add to the hypothetical responses: I did! at precisely the price point of a USAK casual, in fact.

    My college team is purple/white:

It is merely coincidence that my local team's colors match HOE's Wallace red muted, but I've been known to wear that on game day.

I've already done this. The Oakleigh was a good match for the University of Delaware Blue Hens. And coincidentally my fraternity (Alpha Phi Omega) colors as well.
