Can we take this to mean you are in the market for your next kilt? Which kiltmaker(s) are you leaning towards? this may help in the indentifying of dark tartans, based on their supply.

By the way the maple leaf tartan is always nice.

    Jack,

I had a hard time trying to answer this question because of so many neat darker tartans available, that just to pick one would limit plenty of options. I had not even thought of Bear's Maple Leaf, but it is nice as Colin has said, in fact that is what I am donning at this time.

Good luck on your selection process.

i think that I am probably wavering between a bear kilt or a USA Kilt, but this is all dependant on my ability to convince my mum to buy me another kilt . I keep trying to convince her that if she buys an outfit for my sister at near $100, most of which she only wears once, that a kilt for me isn't much of a stretch, plus I will get a lot more mileage from the kilt.

    Cheers,
    Chris

Not only more mileage, but more dates and attention from the fairer gender.

Good luck convincing your Mom, Jack! They can be a tough bunch.

Now that you have chosen 2 likely kiltmakers, go back and see all there tartans, find a few that you like, and ask the kiltmakers any questions about their product you might have. I can go on about my Bear kilts forever, but I have heard good things about USAkilts too.

    Colin,

What kind of finder's fee do you get from Bear?

Really though, for us Canadian boys, you can't beat Bear for value.

I've already advised my wife that I will be ordering an 8yd BW, from Bear, for the colder weather. Her comment was, "You haven't even received the last one you ordered." All good things take time.

No finder's fee here mate. I do get the odd bottle of Alexander Keiths thrown my way at kilts nights. I just think he has a great product, and I am happy to support a local business. Bear has done a ***** load of stuff to help promote kilts in BC, so if a few kind words help him out, my pleasure.

It's great to see that you can still be great friends after he throws bottles of alcohol at you.
