    What Color Hose?

I'm in the process of getting my kilt accessories together while I have my kilt being made (by USAKilts), and I have a question about colored hose. I ordered a pair of generic off-white / neutral colored hose, but after perusing this site (and others), it looks like the trend is to wear muted colored hose to dress things up a bit. I'm not a fan of black or vibrant colors like red, and I'm not particularly crazy about diced hose, so my question is this: For the Armstrong modern tartan, what do you suggest would look best? I have attached a photo of the Armstrong modern tartan (I think). Any comments and/or suggestions are VERY MUCH appreciated, as I am partially colorblind!

I would go with Lovat Green or Bottle Green. Lovat Blue. I know you said you don't like Red but how about Claret(Burgundy).

With Bottle Green, Lovat Green, and Lovat Blue, I suggest red flashes.

Red would be making a statement. If not then Lovat green.

Lovat green with red flashes; or if you prefer navy, that'd look just fine, too.

Please forgive my ignorance, but "lovat" simply means "muted" or "subdued," right? OR, is lovat green / lovat navy the actual color that is in the Armstrong modern tartan?

    contrasting

I would say if you are wearing a darker colour jacket on top of your kilt, you might want to look for contrasting hose. So if the jacket is a dark blue, you might look for green or a lovat shade of hose. Dark hose matching a dark tartan kilt and dark jacket would wind up being, let's say, a bit "dark".

In addition, since kilts and jackets tend to be fairly expensive and therefore harder to switch out, a variety of different hose can allow you change the look of an outfit quite easily and economically. I'm fairly new at this but I find myself reaching for different coloured hose more and more frequently.

    Hope this helps.

Brick red, tartan red, claret, Lovat green, ancient green, tartan green, Lovat Blue, St. Andrew's Blue, and ancient blue are my votes (various House of Cheviot hose colours).

Mustard would work, but not the easiest color to find.
