Unfortunately I can't be there as it clashes with Bannockburn Live but I know of three other Xmarkers who are intending to be there so I've started this thread to enable all who are attending to liaise with one another.

I can't make it either, I'm afraid, as I'm heading off on my holidays.

Incidentally, Grant park, where the event is being held is what I suspect to be the site of the battle of Mons Graupius in 83/84CE

Which is highlighted a bit in the 2008 BBC One Scotland series, "A History of Scotland," hosted by Neil Oliver.

Yes, great series with stunning cinematography. Oliver doesn't speculate as to the actual battle site, though the map used suggests Bennachie.

I have a lovely view of Bennachie from my lounge window, and it's one of the most favoured candidates for the battle site, but I don't think it is where it was held.

Cracking photos, mate! What a view! And from your lounge window? Lucky indeed. Thanks for sharing those. I too thoroughly enjoyed the series, so much so that I purchased my own copy a few years ago. I can't tell you how many times I have watched it! I especially like to have it on whilst I press my kilt in preparation to head out to some event/affair where Highland Dress is to be worn. Yes, I'm a nerd like that, but I don't care.

    Thanks, Kyle!

Yes, it was the view that sold the place to me. We bought it two years ago when it was still a cow shed. We threw everything we had at it in order to get it, which is why even now I have to think carefully and save up before buying any new kilt items, but it was so worth it!

I can sit on my sofa and see Mount Keen, Lochnagar, Bennachie, and the sun setting over the wee loch with roe deer in the fields. I tend to listen to the television more than I watch it.

Piperdown and I will be there with our wives and the rest of our pipe band. We're not competing or playing; we're there to enjoy and absorb the sound.
Is it just my computer, or is this page reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaly wide?

Great photos, Thanks for sharing. I too enjoyed the series.
Also like the series "two men in a trench". The ones about visiting historic British battlefields and recreating the battle situations.
