I have reviewed many of your works Scott and I am constantly amazed and humbled by your dedication to your "art". What a blessing...keep up the good work! Maybe one day we'll collaborate on a "Tribal" themed piece....

How does something like this vanish from the world? What happened to it's maker?

I hate to see things disappear, especially well crafted things.

Scott , what a stunning piece of work !!! I can see why you were excited to get started on such a classic sporran commission . Wow !!!

Your precise craftsmanship is definitely second to none and your range of expertise from metal work / leather work / fur / hair .... has always impressed me .... that combination is rare in today's world .

I share your thoughts and questions on the originals .

I do have one guess on what happened to the original makers ..... they are setting in the hereafter and are smiling down with great appreciation of your continuation of the trade !

    Best , Mike

Thanks again, all. I'm truly humbled at the reception this piece has gotten.

I'm actually going to print out this thread in it's entirety, laminate it, and hang it in my shop. On days when I'm pulling my hair out in frustration when dealing with some odd characteristic of a leather/fur, or some particularly troublesome braze I'll look up, read this, and feel worlds better.

I actually make the cantles, @Sharkman, so there's really no need to find one.

Actually, the reason I started making them was that old brass cantles were so darned hard to find. Of course it's been over two years and I haven't gotten to make one for myself yet.
