Re-introducing the Freedom Kilts Heritage Hose

In 2009 Freedom Kilts acquired an antique circular sock making machine. We instantly fell in love with the idea of being about to produce custom made kilt hose.
We thought that there was a real need for hose made in other than the stock sizes commercially available.

We had customers who needed custom sizes due to short or long legs, two feet of different size and for those who may have lost toes.

We were also looking at Highland Athletes who sometimes have very large calves and can't find hose to fit.

Here is a photo of that original sock machine. It was an Auto-Knitter dated around 1920 bought off Ebay.

We were able to produce a few pair of what we called Heritage Hose but we were never able to get that machine to work reliably due to its age.

Recently a new company began producing a brand new sock machine. Based on an antique Gearhart sock machine these are brand new. Now made with computer aided milling and new materials.
Once we heard of this new machine our hopes of producing our Heritage hose came alive once again.
In May of this year my new machine was delivered and I began to learn to use it.

I documented the new sock machine in this thread. http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=84111

Here I am making a sock on our new Erlbacher-Gearhart Circular Sock Machine.

We are very proud to once again to start to offer our Heritage Hose.

We currently have 9 colors of yarn. (click on the images for a larger view)

    Classic Ecru

A very light brown we call Oatmeal.

    A classic Lovat Blue

    A classic Lovat Green

    A darker Forest Green

    A Coffee Brown

A light Gray we call Smoke

And a dark Gray we call Charcoal

Here is our first complete pair of Heritage Hose. These are nice and thick, the ribbing in the cuff and leg have a wide assortment of arrangements.
The length of the cuff, leg and foot are all customer specified.

If you would like to more information or to discuss a pair of Heritage hose please feel free to contact me via email: steve@freedomkilts.com

The price for a pair of custom made, hand crafted Heritage Hose is $68.00cdn plus shipping anywhere in the world.
