John @Orionson I can't thank you enough for letting me be a part of this project. Having the provenance of the tartan, seeing the cloth being woven before my eyes, getting to see, feel (and wear!) the original kilt, all this has given this simple garment so much extra meaning, much more than I ever thought it would or could. Best of all however are the new friendships forged along the way.
To anyone else out there who ever has the chance to get involved with something like this, I'd say go for it, you won't regret it!

For those of you who may be interested, we are planning on doing a second run of this magnificent old MacDuff Tartan early in the new year.
If anyone is interested in joining us for this next round, please do drop either @Calgacus or myself a wee message.
We will, of course be posting photos of some of the finished pieces here on XMarks once they are available.
Cheers!
Orionson

My sincere congratulations to John, Robin, Richard, Paul and notably Peter, who researched the original kilt, on this reproduction of a magnificent old tartan.
Having no Gunn connections (and plenty other tartans that have caught my eye) I doubt that I will ever wear this sett, but I am thrilled to know that it will live on in John and Richard’s kilts, and perhaps in kilts worn by others of the Great Rabble.
It is all very well to see new tartan designs woven (I have a few I would like to see in cloth myself), but projects like this remind us that there is beauty in the old setts, the old dyes, the old weaving methods – a rich history that should not be allowed to die out.
Regards,
Mike
